During Citizenship lessons in the Personal Development lesson, you will learn about parliamentary democracy and the key elements of the constitution of the United Kingdom. You will study the different electoral systems used in and beyond the United Kingdom and will learn about the actions citizens can take in democratic and electoral pro-cesses to influence decisions locally, nationally and beyond.
You will also research the legal system in the UK, different sources of law and how the law helps society deal with complex problems. Also you will learn the different ways in which a citizen can contribute to the improvement of their community, to include the opportunity to participate actively in community volunteering, as well as other forms of responsible activity. You will also investigate valuable life skills such as budgeting and learn about key terms such as income and expenditure.
