Triple Science

Triple Science is a course suited to those students who wish to pursue Science as further education. This course is aimed at students who are consistently achieving the highest grades. Students will gain 3 GCSEs — Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

Chemistry:

• Quantitative chemistry
• Chemical changes
• Energy changes
• The rate and extent of chemical change
• Chemistry of the atmosphere
• Atomic structure and the periodic table
• Bonding, structure, and the properties of matter
• Using resources
• Chemical analysis
• Organic chemistry

Physics:

• Waves
• Particle model of matter
• Atomic structure
• Space physics (Physics only)
• Magnetism and electromagnetism
• Forces
• Electricity
• Energy

Assessment

Each subject will be examined at the end of Year 11 in two, 1 hour and 45 minute exams, resulting in a total of 6 exams.

Scientific calculator, CGP revision book and workbook (which can be purchased from the academy).

This is a course for those who want to follow a career in science or follow a higher education science course.

Post-16 opportunities 

Triple Science provides a firm foundation for students to progress to A-Level Science. It also provides progression to other Level 3 qualifications for students wanting to pursue a more vocational route.
